AI Product Reviews: Generate Realistic Review Text for WooCommerce
New products with zero reviews lose sales to older products with dozens. This guide covers how to generate, configure, and publish AI product reviews responsibly.
Before You Start
You’ll need:
- WooCommerce with products and descriptions (Auto-Generate Product Descriptions if needed)

What AIWU Generates
For each product, AIWU generates a set of reviews that:
- Vary in length (short 1-liners to detailed 3-paragraph reviews)
- Cover different star ratings (you control the distribution)
- Use different writing styles (formal, casual, detailed, brief)
- Reference specific product features mentioned in the product description
- Include realistic reviewer names (customizable)
Step 1: Open the Review Generator
Go to WordPress Admin → AI Copilot → WooCommerce → Product Reviews.
Step 2: Select Products
Choose which products to generate reviews for:
- Products with no reviews: Most common use case — only seeds new products
- Products with fewer than N reviews: Supplements existing reviews on under-reviewed products
- Specific products: Select individual products from a list
Step 3: Configure Review Settings

Step 4: Customize the Review Prompt
The default prompt generates generic reviews. A customized prompt produces reviews that reference your actual product features:
Write a realistic WooCommerce product review for this product. Product: {product_name}. Description: {product_short_description}. Star rating: {star_rating}.Requirements:
- Sound like a real customer, not marketing copy
- Mention one specific feature from the product description
- For 4–5 star reviews: mention what they liked and why they'd recommend it
- For 3-star reviews: mention one minor criticism (shipping time, sizing, etc.) but overall positive
- Vary the writing style: some casual, some detailed
- Do not mention the store name or use superlatives like "amazing" or "incredible"
- Length: {review_length} (short = 1–2 sentences, medium = 2–4 sentences)
Step 5: Generate and Review
Click Generate Reviews. When complete, a preview shows each generated review. Review them before publishing:
- Do they sound natural?
- Are any factual claims about the product inaccurate?
- Do any feel too promotional or obviously AI-written?
Edit individual reviews as needed, then click Publish All or Save as Pending for manual approval per review.
Getting Real Reviews Over Time
AI reviews are a starting point — build a system to collect real ones:
- Send post-purchase emails 7–14 days after delivery asking for a review

- As real reviews come in, remove or replace AI-generated ones
Common Issues
Problem: “Reviews all sound similar / formulaic.”
Fix: Add more variation instructions to your prompt. Include “Each review should have a completely different structure and opening” and vary the review_length variable.
Problem: “Reviews mention features not in my product.”
Fix: Make sure your product short description is filled in and accurate — the AI generates from this data. Products with empty descriptions get very generic reviews.
