Auto-Generate Product Descriptions for 500 WooCommerce Products
Writing product descriptions for 500 products manually takes weeks. AIWU generates them all overnight — each one unique, SEO-optimized, and written from your product data. This guide shows you the complete process from setup to bulk generation.
Before You Start
You’ll need:
- WooCommerce installed with products added (even with empty descriptions)
- AIWU plugin with an API key configured (choose a provider)

- Plan required: Free for single products · Pro for bulk generation
Option A: Generate a Single Product Description
This works in the Free plan and is useful for testing before running bulk.
- Go to WordPress Admin → Products and open any product
- Look for the AI Generate button near the description field (added by AIWU)
- Click it — a settings panel opens
- Choose: Description type (short or long), Tone (professional, enthusiastic, minimal), Language
- Click Generate — the AI writes the description and inserts it into the field
- Review and edit if needed, then Update the product
Test with 2–3 products to tune the tone and style before running bulk.
Option B: Bulk Generate for All Products (Pro)
Step 1: Open the WooCommerce Generator
Go to WordPress Admin → AI Copilot → Content Generation → WooCommerce (or AI Copilot → WooCommerce Products depending on your version).
Step 2: Select Products to Generate
You have three options:
- All products: Generates for every product in your store
- Empty descriptions only: Skips products that already have descriptions — recommended for first run
- By category: Generate only for selected product categories
Select Empty descriptions only for your first bulk run.
Step 3: Configure Generation Settings

Step 4: Start Bulk Generation
Click Start Generation. A progress bar shows completed / total products. Generation speed is approximately 20–40 products per hour (limited by your AI provider’s rate limits).
Step 5: Review and Publish
When complete, browse through a sample of generated descriptions (10–20 products). Check:
- Does the description match the product accurately?
- Are the tone and style consistent with your brand?
- Are any factual details wrong or fabricated?
If the quality is good across your sample, the rest can be considered approved. Spot-check any categories that involve specific technical details (electronics, medical, legal) more carefully.
Writing a Better Generation Prompt (Advanced)
For more control over the output, use the Custom Prompt option instead of the default settings. Example prompt for a fashion store:
Write a product description for this fashion item. Product name: {product_name}. Category: {product_category}. Attributes: {product_attributes}.Requirements:
- Open with a lifestyle sentence that connects emotionally with the buyer
- 2–3 sentences about key features and materials
- 1 sentence about who it's perfect for
- Close with a gentle call-to-action
- Tone: warm, aspirational, not salesy
- Length: 80–120 words
Common Issues
Problem: “Generated descriptions are too generic — they don’t mention specific product details.”
Fix: Add more product attributes in WooCommerce (material, dimensions, color options, use case). The AI can only write from the data it receives. More attributes = more specific descriptions.
Problem: “Generation stopped after 50 products.”
Fix: Likely a rate limit or credits issue. Check your API provider dashboard. Completed products are saved — resume from where it stopped. See API Key Errors guide.
Problem: “Descriptions are in the wrong language.”
Fix: Verify the Language setting in Step 3. If using a custom prompt, add “Write in [language]” explicitly.
