WooCommerce SEO Meta: Bulk Generate Titles and Descriptions for Every Product

Every WooCommerce product needs a meta title and meta description for Google to index it properly. Writing them manually for 500 products takes days. AIWU generates SEO-optimized meta for your entire catalog in one run — working with Yoast SEO, RankMath, and other popular SEO plugins.

Before You Start

You’ll need:

  • WooCommerce with products and descriptions (Auto-Generate Product Descriptions if needed)
  • An SEO plugin installed: Yoast SEO, RankMath, or All in One SEO (AIWU writes to their custom fields)
  • AIWU Pro with API key configured
  • Time needed: 10 minutes setup · generation runs in background
  • Plan required: Pro
💡 What good SEO meta looks like:
Meta Title: Navy Blue Leather Wallet for Men – Slim Bifold | YourStore (55–60 chars)
Meta Description: Genuine leather slim bifold wallet in navy blue. Holds 8 cards, RFID blocking, gift-ready packaging. Free shipping over $50. (120–155 chars)

Step 1: Open the WooCommerce SEO Generator

Go to WordPress Admin → AI Copilot → Content Generation → WooCommerce and select the SEO Meta tab.

Alternatively: AI Copilot → WooCommerce → SEO Meta Generator.

Step 2: Select Products and Configure

Which products to process:

  • Products with empty SEO fields: Recommended — skip products you’ve already optimized manually
  • All products: Overwrites existing meta — use only if you want to regenerate everything
  • By category: Process one category at a time for easier review

SEO plugin target: Select your installed SEO plugin so AIWU writes to the correct fields:

  • Yoast SEO → writes to _yoast_wpseo_title and _yoast_wpseo_metadesc
  • RankMath → writes to rank_math_title and rank_math_description
  • All in One SEO → writes to the AIOSEO meta fields
  • Custom / None → writes to standard _seo_title and _seo_description meta

Step 3: Set Up Your Prompt Templates

AIWU uses two prompt templates — one for the meta title, one for the meta description. Default templates are pre-filled, but customizing them gives better results:

Meta Title template:

Write an SEO meta title for this product. Include the product name and one key benefit or feature. Add the store name at the end separated by a dash. Keep it under 60 characters. Product: {product_name}. Category: {product_category}. Key attributes: {product_attributes}.

Meta Description template:

Write an SEO meta description for this product. Include: the main benefit, 1–2 key features, and a soft call to action. Keep it 130–155 characters. Do not start with the product name. Product: {product_name}. Short description: {product_short_description}. Price: {product_price}.

⚠️ Character limits matter. Meta titles over 60 characters get truncated in Google search results. Descriptions over 155 characters get cut off. Include the character limit instruction in your prompt — the AI respects it.

Step 4: Run Generation

Click Start Generation. The progress bar shows completed / total. You can close the browser — generation continues in the background.

Speed: approximately 30–60 products per minute for meta generation (faster than description generation because the outputs are shorter).

Step 5: Verify in Your SEO Plugin

After generation, open any product in WooCommerce. Scroll down to your SEO plugin’s section (Yoast, RankMath, etc.) — you should see the AI-generated meta title and description filled in.

Check a few manually before considering the batch done:

  • Does the title include the product name?
  • Is it under 60 characters? (Yoast shows a green indicator for good length)
  • Does the description read naturally and include a benefit?
  • Is it under 155 characters?
✅ Meta fields filled in your SEO plugin? Every product now has unique, optimized meta — Google will index each product individually instead of showing duplicate or empty snippets in search results.

Common Issues

Problem: “Meta was generated but doesn’t appear in Yoast/RankMath.”
Fix: Confirm the correct SEO plugin is selected in Step 2. Check the field names match what your version of Yoast/RankMath uses — older versions may use different meta keys. You can also check in WordPress Admin → Posts → Quick Edit whether the custom fields are populated.

Problem: “Meta titles are all over 60 characters.”
Fix: Add “Maximum 55 characters” explicitly to your meta title prompt. Also remove the store name suffix if product names are long.

Problem: “All descriptions start with the product name.”
Fix: Add “Do not start the description with the product name” to your meta description prompt.
