Workflow Recipe: Weekly AI Content Ideas Delivered Every Monday

Every Monday morning, AIWU can deliver a fresh batch of AI-generated content ideas to your Slack or email — tailored to your niche, current season, and recent publishing history. No more staring at a blank editorial calendar. This guide sets up a scheduled content ideation workflow.

Before You Start

You’ll need:

  • Familiar with the workflow builder (First Custom Workflow guide)
  • AIWU with API key configured
  • Time needed: ~10 minutes
  • Plan required: Pro

What This Workflow Does

Trigger: Schedule (every Monday at 9am) → AI generates 10 content ideas relevant to your niche and the current month → delivers to Slack or email.

Step 1: Create the Workflow

Go to AI Copilot → Workflows → Create New Workflow. Name it: “Weekly Content Ideas”.

Step 2: Set the Scheduled Trigger

Setting Value
Trigger Schedule
Frequency Weekly
Day Monday
Time 09:00 (your timezone)

Step 3: Write the Content Ideas Prompt

Customize this template for your specific niche:

Generate 10 blog post ideas for {site_name}, a blog about [your niche/topic].

Current date: {current_date}
Current month: {current_month}

Requirements for the ideas:
- Relevant to what people in [your niche] are thinking about in {current_month}
- Mix of formats: include 2–3 listicles, 2 how-to guides, 2 opinion/perspective pieces, 1 case study idea, 2 comparison articles
- Each idea should be specific enough to write immediately — no vague titles like "Tips for beginners"
- Target reader: [describe your audience]
- Avoid evergreen clichés we've already covered: [list 3–4 topics you write about frequently that are over-covered]

Format each idea as:
**[Title idea]**
Why now: [1 sentence on why this is timely]
Angle: [1 sentence on the unique perspective]

Deliver all 10 ideas in this format, numbered 1–10.

Step 4: Configure the Delivery

Option A: Deliver to Slack

Setting Value
Output Action Send Slack Message
Webhook URL Your Slack webhook (e.g. #content-team channel)
Message 📅 *Weekly Content Ideas — {current_date}*nn{ai_output}

Option B: Deliver to Email

Setting Value
Output Action Send Email
To [email protected]
Subject 10 Content Ideas for the Week of {current_date}
Body {ai_output}

Option C: Save as a Draft Post (Content Calendar)

Setting Value
Output Action Create WordPress Post
Post Title Content Ideas — Week of {current_date}
Post Content {ai_output}
Post Status Draft
Category Editorial Planning (create this category first)

Advanced: Make Ideas More Relevant

The basic prompt uses only the current date for context. Improve relevance by adding:

  • Recent posts context: Add a step before the AI action that fetches your 5 most recent post titles and includes them in the prompt as “recently covered topics to avoid”
  • Seasonal events: Add to the prompt: “Consider upcoming seasonal events, holidays, or industry events in {current_month}”
  • Trending angle: Chain a web search step first (if available) to fetch current trending topics in your niche, then pass those to the content ideas prompt
✅ Ideas arriving Monday morning? Your editorial calendar now has a constant input stream. Spend 5 minutes each Monday selecting the 2–3 best ideas from the list rather than inventing topics from scratch.

Other Useful Scheduled Workflow Ideas

  • Daily digest: Every morning at 8am → summarize yesterday’s orders, top comments, and site stats → send to email
  • Monthly report: First day of month → AI writes content performance summary → save as draft post
  • Weekly social prompts: Every Thursday → generate 5 social media post ideas for the coming week
  • Quarterly review reminder: Every 3 months → generate a list of articles to consider updating based on age
